Buying a home is expensive and you do have upfront costs. You may be asking yourself “why should I get a home inspection in Murrells Inlet?”. Getting a home inspection is a critical part of buying a home and choosing a home inspector in Murrells Inlet is the first step.
On average, the cost of a home inspection in Murrells Inlet, SC is $400. In my opinion, this is money well spent!
I have seen the following items revealed on home inspection reports or had my home inspectors tell me they saw on other homes…
- Termites
- Foundation issues
- Brand new HVAC systems not working
- Electric not being run to an island on a new construction home
- Plumbing not being connected properly
- No electrical ground

Choosing a Home Inspector
Should you decide to use me as your REALTOR®️, I can provide you with some home inspector recommendations. I recommend calling several home inspectors to ask about their inspection, the report, their pricing and to see if you like their personality.
Home Inspection Process
Your inspector will spend several hours at the home you will be purchasing checking the major components of the home including the roof, the heating and cooling systems, the electrical and plumbing systems along with the water supply and water waste systems. The inspector will also let you know important details about your home including where the water shut off is located and what size air filters your system uses.
On the afternoon or evening of the home inspection, you will receive the home inspection report by email. Feel free to call your inspector to discuss the report and have any questions answered.
What Happens if Issues are Found?
We will request the seller or builder repair these items. In most cases, the seller will make the needed repairs or offer a credit. However, in South Carolina, the seller does not have to make any repairs and buyers can choose to terminate the contract during the due diligence period.
The Importance of Inspections
Had the home buyers from the above examples waived their home inspection, they would have needed to do those (surprise) repairs themselves. So when you ask yourself “why should I get a home inspection in Murrells Inlet?” keep these examples in mind.
