As you can imagine, the main attraction in Garden City Beach, SC is the beach! However, Garden City Beach recreation and entertainment is more than just the beach.

Because there are not many high-rise hotels…especially on the south end of Garden City Beach, the beaches are not as crowded as the beaches in Myrtle Beach. Watch out during King tides though as roads can be flooded. 

Many days when crossing the marsh on Atlantic Avenue, you will see people crabbing in the marsh or fishing off the walkway along the marsh. Surfers get together at the Garden City Pier for surfing competitions throughout the year or just to catch a few waves. You’ll also see people paddle boarding in the ocean or enjoying a beach yoga class. In the summer, visit the Garden City Beach Pavilion & Arcade.

The Marlin Quay Marina is a full-service marina offering charter fishing, parasailing and sunset cruises. The marina also has a fishing store and The Quay Seafood Grille.

For the golfers and putt-putters, visit the Tupelo Bay Golf Center. There you will find an executive course, a lighted Par 3 course, driving range, putting green and two 18-hole miniature golf courses. Gilligan’s Island Funland is another putt-putt option is Garden City Beach. They have two 18-hole miniature golf courses. 

Should you decide to try surfing, kayaking or paddle boarding while you are in town or before you go to the expense of buying, you can rent surfboards, kayaks and paddle boards from Woodys Beach Rentals. At Woodys, you can also rent golf carts and bikes for cruising the beach. 

The Pier in Garden City is another favorite hot spot. It is great for fishing, people watching and seeing beautiful views of the ocean. It’s also a great place to grab a bite to eat and listen to live music.
