When you have your home for sale, strangers will be coming in your home and seeing your home online. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe! Here are 4 safety tips while your home is listed for sale.
Prior to Listing Your Home
Remember that pictures and videos of your home will be on the internet and anyone can see them. Move any items that are personal or that you would rather people not see.
Before pictures and videos are taken of your home, think about removing the following items..
- Remove all personal pictures, especially those of children
- Remove all visible jewelry
- Remove any expensive items
Showing Days
On days of showings, potential buyers will be in your home looking around. They may open drawers or closets. Remember to either remove from the property or lock away the following items…
- Guns and other weapons
- Jewelry
- Medication
- Any items of value to you
- Anything that could be broken
Strangers
Once your home is for sale, people will be driving by. Some people may walk up to your home and request a showing or ask you questions if you are outside. Do not allow strangers into your home. Ask anyone requesting a showing to schedule a showing through me or their buyers’ agent.
Children’s Toys
If you have children, please put up their toys on days of showings. Children of people looking at your home may see the toys and want to play with them. I would not want your child’s favorite toy to be broken by potential buyers.
Keep these 4 safety tips while your home is listed for sale in mind during the selling process.
